Well, having received treatment at another dentist now, the answer to that is: kind of. Yes, I read and signed a patient info release form with Southern Smiles, but it was quite detailed about when and why they would and would not release my info, and they didn't get all flustered or huffy when I did have questions about something.
Loved the ways when you walkin they are there 2 help u and it's never a long wait and they offer u water or tea or coffee and how its always clean and the couches are nice and clean.....so thanks you for taking good care of my kids ..
My dental work has gone very well and feel no pressure to have work done that I don't need. He extracted a tooth and next day had no pain at all..

Great Dental Practice! Dr. Johnson is a Dentist who really cares about his patients. He took the time to show me my X-Rays and to thoroughly discuss both the issues I was having and treatment options. We sat down and decided on a treatment plan. I never felt pressured to go with a more expensive option vs a cheaper option. What I did get was a no nonsense explanation of my choices, and the pros and cons for each. This was exactly what I was looking for in a Dentist.
After a lot of research about who my dental insurance would work with, I tried TJ Family Dentistry first. I didn't get past the waiting room. Their patient info release form was really vague, and it clearly stated I wasn't required to sign it in order to get treatment - until the dentist came out and said (repeatedly, and irritably) that I should find another dentist because I wouldn't sign the (optional) patient info release form, which was much too broadly worded (blanket release statement, no qualifications) and too brief (about four sentences total!) for me to feel comfortable just releasing my info willy-nilly. The dentist said "every other dentist will have you sign the same thing." Plus I just don't feel comfortable going to a dentist to expects me to sign everything they put under my nose without thinking or questioning what I'm signing.
In my experience - I tend to get a lot of cavities so I have had a lot of experience with dental care in my life - I have had both good dental experiences and bad dental experiences. Dr. Johnson and his staff ranks as one of the best!
