I have been shopping here for 20 years and I have a very warm appreciation for this place and what it stands for. The owners truly care and the staff is incredibly friendly. The produce is as fresh as it comes. I was also able to buy Rose Bush Starts here as a gift for my mother. It is a little out of the way, but definitely worth the trip!
Don't forget to check out their flower selection!
Last but not least another reason I love coming here is that there is always something different to try. I like to try to get something I've never eaten before every time I shop because it helps me broaden my horizons. One time I snagged some golden kiwis, another time I got some local small figs, another time I got a Hempstead yellow meated watermelon- it doesn't seem to matter how often I go, I always run across something I've never seen or had before so it's a nice little treat!
Man, I love Farm Patch. I try to go during off times so I can browse away from a crowd, but even when it is crowded I still find a lot of goodies. The produce is always better quality than the other groceries around (trust me, I've been to all of them) and they have a neat little air conditioned room now with some imported things that I haven't been able to find elsewhere in B/CS.
Off the beaten path, but this it's worth the drive. I appreciate the open air market and how the produce is displayed. The prices are reasonable and they have a nice selection of homemade jams, jellies and sauces. They offer certain items in bulk, so call and ask about their selection. I purchased coffee beans and the flavor was nice.
Service wise 9 times of 10 I have had a great experience, I think maybe once I had a cashier who was not friendly at all, but that was a while ago and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen her in there since. The regular employees that I've seen for the last 10 months or so I have been frequenting Farm Patch are all really friendly and knowledgeable and have more than made up for the one or two grump faces I've encountered.
Very friendly/helpful/knowledgeable staff and manager. I asked the manager to point me in the right direction for a veggie, and he even showed me how to pick the best one. He threw out suggestions on how to cook other items as well.
Fresh produce the owner truly care I buy my produce there it worth the trip
As other reviewers have noted there is a lot of fresh local produce here, but it is mixed in with your typical stuff from other states/countries and sometimes the local stuff doesn't last for even a day because it sells so quickly.
I buy all of my produce here. Prices are comparable, maybe even less than HEB, but better quality and supports local farmers as much as possible.
Price wise it is a little hard to compare because they have a larger selection than other stores, but usually I can walk out of here with 1 or 2 large paper grocery sacks of food for under $20, and well under $10 if I am being careful with what I am picking up! Over all I find I end up saving money (some things cheaper, some things more expensive) over going to HEB/Kroger for similar items, and it's better quality/fresher.
The only drawback is the parking. It's tight when busy.
Oh, and while this place is fine for your typical omnivore, for us vegans and vegetarians there are a few little bonuses :) Farm Patch has THE CHEAPEST tofu I have found in the B/CS area, fairly larger sized water packs for $0.99. The quality is great on it and for some reason it tastes fresher than what I've picked up elsewhere. They also have a few little goodies here and there in the refrigerator section in addition to all the fantastic produce that make this my #1 place in B/CS to recommend to vegans and vegetarians that follow a relatively whole foods plant based approach. There are also huge sacks of beans and rice for great prices in the little climate controlled room near the bathroom.
